I live in Houston and I have 6 month old Coturnix quails. I have them in a bird cage nicely covered up. When the temperature falls below 40F, I move them from outside and keep them in the garage until the weather warms up a little.
I would like to know what temperatures Coturnix quails can tolerate outside as long as they are shielded from the wind. Please advise.

HELLO!!!!! EVERYONE!!! I AM GOING TO TALK ALL ABOUT QUAIL! SINCE I AM GOING TO GET ONE SOON!!! but.. their is one SUPER SAD THING! i have to get rid of the guinea pigs!! all of them with their cage and everything!! ): ): ): it is sooooo !!SAD!! i love my guinea pigs soo much and my grampie said he would clean them every week! all i had to do was give them water and food. He needs the job after all ALL he does in the winter is shovel the snow and watch TV. So it will be good for him. Today i cared for all my pets extra i cleaned my betta fish's tank and gave all the animals Food water and something to play with or something extra! I worked hard but i feel good now. I know that i can care for the Guinea pigs and the quail. And the other animals all i did last year was read now this year i get to have quail and guinea pig's!! hopefully. (: PLEASE PAPA! PLEASE MOMMY!!! can i keep the guinea pig and get Quail! i know everything about quail. IT will be AWESOME!! and best of all i will be happy!! (: (: VERY HAPPY!!!! (: Okay now i am going to be talking about quail so basically we are gonna get 2 dollar chicks for Susan we have a brooder lamp and bulb and shavings and water and feeder all we need to get is feed for them. They can eat Game bird feed we can get that a tractor supply. They can also eat turkey starter. When they get to be mature in 6 to 8 weeks then they will start laying a eggs a day for three years. When they are old we will keep them in a guinea pig cage at night. And in the morning they will go into the golden pen thing. grampie also has a lot of left over wire and wood we could use to make the quail a house ran sort of thing. In the winter we will get a 100 watt bulb and they will live in the garage with it or in the basement with it probably the basement! i will change their cage every week down their and give them food and water the golden run we can also use by putting it on the basement floor we can but veggies and scraps in their for them to eat. (: THANKS YOU GUYS! date november 28th 2017. a few days ago one of my quail died. now i only have six. but even worse. my parents never let me keep my five guinea pigs. They made me give them all to a far away Petco in cambrige which will soon close down i got a hermit crab thier but he recently died. it was a small dirty and bad Petco I REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY miss my piggys ):

Dreams in the Day
On a warm spring afternoon a note from high in the sky reached a small house on a ranch it landed right on the feet of a Young gal. The girl picked up the letter and read what the paper had to say. Her large blue eyes brightened and her long red hair swayed in the crisp wind. Then she disappeared into the house with not another thing to say or do. Now let us go to another part of the world were the same letter dropped on the feet of a older girl with dark brown hair and green eyes. This girl however was not pleased with the letter and frowned. She did not walk back into her house but quite the opposite. She ran into the streets miles and miles from home. What did the letter say you might wonder or who are the girls? Well keep reading and soon you will know. For now let us go and see what our red head friend is up to.
Star ran up to her room and put her letter in her safest drawer. Then she ran downstairs and sat down for supper. Her mother looked at her and said, "Star my only girl why are you not in you supper dress but in your newest gown?" "Dear mom I have a busy evening ahead of me." "Very well dear. Now would you want carrots or apple for your side dish." "apple please ma" star's mother gave Star apple and chicken to eat. Star's brothers Henry Robert Richard Jack Jim and john were at the table too. But a usual little Toby was not he was in his crib taking a nap. "Mom when will Toby ever grow up he is always snooping around crying or eating. Nothing else he is worth nothing why don't you get rid of him?" said john who was the youngest other than Toby of course. "Oh dear john don't speak such nonsense he is your brother and you will treat him as one and no more gibberish" mom said firmly. "yes mom" and there was no more talk around the table.
The next day it was Monday and Star was going to the museum of fine arts in Boston she planed to have a lot of fun there but little did she know what she was to find there! the next day Aunt Annie drove her to the museum and told her a few things and then left. Star was all alone miles for home in a museum. She did not know where to look first.
She loved to paint so she went to the place were she saw some paintings. A few other people were their, but Star did not care. She barely even noticed them as her thoughts drifted to the paintings! She saw many paintings. Some she knew like the paintings from Claude Monet and others she did not know, but all of the paintings were incredible to her!!
After she had studied every picture in the room she headed to the cars section where the oldest cars were! She saw the model T version of the ford, the first electric car and many other amazing cars! After seeing everything in the museum she wanted see more so she searched and finally found a staircase that had a large sign that said Do Not Enter and a rope from one side of the railing to the other. But Star was not taking Do Not Enter as a no to seeing more art! So she crawled under the rope and found herself walking up an old staircase. She suddenly heard a loud crashing sound from the top of the stairs and a non-human face looked down at her!
She screamed, but it was too late. She vanished from sight. It was the same face the letter had warned her about. The letter said many more things but we will find those things out later.
For now let us go see our brown haired friend!

CHICKENS!! YOU MUST READ THIS!! CAUSE YOU WILL EXPLODE!! WITH INTEREST!!
😃🐤🐤🐤🐣🐥🐤🐣🐔🐣🐤🐥HELLO GUYS!! SO I HAVE SOME THING AWESOME I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU!! SO STAY IN TOON WORLD!! OK SO BASICALLY I HAVE TWO BROODY HEN'S AND THEY HAVE CHICKS! OK I KNOW THAT IS SUPER BASIC SO WHY NOT GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT BETTER EXPLANATION! SO YES I 🐤 OK SO BREEZE & ROXIE WENT BROODY! IN JULY! AROUND JULY 2 OR SO! 🐔👧 I WAS SUPER DUPER OPPER EXITED WHY SHOULD I NOT BE THAT MEANT I COULD CONVINCE MY PARENTS TO GET ME FERTILE EGGS SO THEY COULD HATCH UNDER HER. SURE ENOUGH I CONVINCED MY PARENTS THROUGH PERSISTENCE HOPE AND OVER ALL HAPPINESS! THAT REALLY SAVED THE DAY! ☀ SO THEY GOT ME FOURTEEN EGGS FROM THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE👱! I WAITED TWENTY ONE LONG LONG DAY'S! BOY BOY THAT WAS HARD!! 😣 BUT IT PAID OF!! 😊 WELL AT LEAST AFTER! 😉 SO YA THE DATE FOR THEM TO HATCH CAME BUT NO ONE HATCHED! I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED BUT I WAITED THREE MORE DAYS! SADLY NO ONE HATCHED!😨 SO FINELY I WENT AND GOT 10 BABY CHICKS! THEY WERE ONLY A FEW DAYS OLD! AND BOY WERE THEY CUTE! AS CUTE AS THE SUN RISING OVER THE TALL MOUNTAINS! AT NIGHT WE BUT THEM UNDER HER! THOUGH THIS SI A VERY DANGEROUS ATTEMPT IN THE MORNING GREAT SIGHS WERE RELEASED! AND EVEN A FEW SMILE'S FOR THE MOTHER HENS HAD ADOPTED THEIR NEW CHICKS AND ONE OF THE EGGS HAD HATCHED! AND ANOTHER HAD BROKEN IT'S SHELL IT WAS GOING TO HATCH! EVEN STILL ONE MORE HAD A TINY HOLE IN IT SHELL! WE WENT TO THE BEACH AND CAME BACK AND GUESS WHAT! NO MORE EGGS HAD HATCHED! WHICH WAS A BIG SURPRISE! SO WE HELPED ONE OF THE EGGS HATCH! A LOT OF BLOOD CAME OUT! AND IT WAS SCARY BUT THE CHICK WAS PUT UNDER MOMMY! WE WENT SHOPPING! AND WHEN WE CAME BACK! KABOOM IT WAS A LITTLE FLUFFY DARLING AND WE SAID HAPPY PRAYERS IN OUR HEARTS! THE OTHER EGG IS GOING TO HATCH SOON! THE REST OF THE EGGS SADLY WERE ALL DEAD WE THROUGH THOSE ONES AWAY. WE MOVED THE HENS UNDER THE COOP WERE THEIR WAS MORE SPACE! SO THAT'S THE END FOR NOW BUT WHO KNOW ABOUT TOMORROW!
