The Islamic Invasion here are some things I thought about it:
1 I'ts definitely not fair that the some of the Visigoths picked, Rodigo do be king insted of the dead kings son's And if they had put one of the dead kings son's on the throne the whole Invasion would probably never of happend. Brothers killing each other for the throne Yes, but Invasion No.
2 It was pretty stupid for the dead sons to ask the "Great Fighter" Tariq Bin Ziyad,to bring his armies to Spain, Even if they thought he might help them. I mean relly?? ehhm "O Great conqueror please bring you greatest armies into Spain to over through the king!" did they really think he liked them more than the king? I mean really?? to him the king, and the to - be kings are in his way of MAKING himself/Islam Rulers the king/rulers of SPAIN.
3 it's interesting how Tariq used to be a slave but then he became a general fighting for a side that had destroyed his land Beber ... but he did not really have a choice it like the people who took over Beber and captured him said " Hey bud, you either fight for us.. or you die. (: " eventually he became a general and he started to have a better life, and life is better than the life of a slave practically.
4 Also adding to comment 2 The Islamic empire or at least part of it was quite close to Spain, making it very simple to bring a LOT of soldiers over and very few of them died from starvation scurvy etc. the whole thing of inviting him over to there land was a perfect innovation ( for Invasion ) for him. In the starting most of the people respected him thinking he would bring back the rule of the kings son's but to bad for them cause that invasion let him have a perfect easy way to ATTACK!.
5 Also why did Rodrigo not imprison the princes? i mean sure there would of been rebellion but on his stand point of view why!! why why!! let them have right have the right to write a letter to the Islamic empire. I mean sure Rodrigo probably did not know they wrote a letter to Islam it it was probably top secret people that respected the sons more than the king probably helped the songs of the DEAD king. I mean the people that rebelled could have killed Rodrigo........and the people that respected the dead kings sons could have also tried to rebelled against him but if he got on the throne in the first place there must be plenty of people that like him? anyway the rock Tariq jumped on upon arriving in Spain is a monument today that is called the rock of gibraltar.
